Post Lockdown Project – AOH Mental Health Training

Hello all within the Trainer Behaviour Community,

We hope that you are all keeping safe and well, with some sort of normality now taking place with the restarting of many Health and Fitness services now up and running.

When reaching out to the Trainer Behaviour Community about how we can support and add value to all, following the impact of lockdown, a common theme was supporting mental health; we are pleased to announce and invite you to take part in a mental health training programme, supplied by our friends at Chasing the Stigma, who have designed the Ambassador of Hope training programme.

Ambassador of Hope was the training programme for this  mental health training with the course providing a recognised qualification for those who attend the training. More importantly, the content of the course was one that was deemed to be relevant to the needs of society and will give those in the Health and Fitness industry to knowledge, confidence and tools to support those who are require some support for their mental health, whether that be small or little.

Chasing the Stigma has also designed the “Hub of Hope” app, which is digital platform that helps to pinpoint the nearest mental health services and support to be shared with those who need it, as well as an option for those who require to, to be put into touch with the Samaritans and the Crisis text line.

Ambassador of Hope training has been rolled  across the Liverpool community and within organisations with the health and fitness sector, including Everton Football Club. The training course will look to provide users with the following information:

  • How to talk about mental health and illness;
  • How to effectively find help and signpost using the Hub of Hope;
  • What to do in a mental health emergency.

The first training course will look to take place virtually and will be a 30min session at least. The course will look to take place the middle to end of September and will be limited to 20 spaces. The view is that this will be the first of many times that Trainer Behaviour will look to partner with Chasing the Stigma and other organisations in the Health and Fitness industry, to increase the opportunities for society to stay fit and healthy.

One of the few positives which came from the lockdown experience was that society took more of an interest in their physical and mental health; we hope that providing this mental health programme, this will keep the focus on health and wellbeing for the future.

If you are interested in attending the course, let the Trainer Behaviour team know through contacting us directly through our Instagram page (trainer_behaviour). Please feel free to contact us the same way if you have any questions too.

We look forward to seeing you on the course,

The Trainer Behaviour Team
